My client, a leading Diamond Mining Group is looking for an experienced and qualified Mechanical Engineering Foreman at their Finsch Diamond Mine which is located in the town of Lime Acres which is situated 160km north west of Kimberley and 109km south of Kuruman in the Northern Cape.

Job Description:

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates who will be responsible for the coordination of the
maintenance of the underground equipment in the Ground Handling section according to sound engineering practice and
equipment specifications.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Ensure implementation and adherence to the Mine’s Health Safety and Environmental COP’s, policies, procedures and legal
requirements within area of responsibility
Supervise and over-inspect subordinates daily activities, offer coaching and on the job training to ensure maintenance
according to organisational standards
Co-ordinate maintenance as well as statutory inspections and audits by internal and external service providers
Ensure the execution of scheduled and non-scheduled mechanical repairs and installation work as required
Communicate with clients and supervisors to inform on maintenance activity performance and availability of equipment
Perform administrative duties to ensure record accuracy and availability, budget compliance and spares availability
Required to work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done
Required to work overtime, do standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12
Qualified Mechanical Artisan with Trade Certificate at recognized/accredited institution
8 years post- apprenticeship experience is essential
Supervisory Training and Qualification will be an advantage
PC Literate in MS Office Suite
Knowledge of Mine Health & Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996)
Valid drivers’ license (Code EB)
