Location: Pinetown, KZN

Description: A pharmaceutical company based in Pinetown requires an Engineering Manager for the Manufacturing Department. The position will report to the Head of Manufacturing. Key duties will be to: Improve, upgrade and expand the company’s manufacturing infrastructure. Help to ensure the company meets production targets. Ensure compliance with all appropriate legislation. Ensure that the Preventative Maintenance program is compliant and effective.

Key Requirements: Minimum BSc with advanced academic training (post-BSc Honours preferred) with process, chemical or mechanical engineering background. Minimum 10 years’ experience with minimum 5 years in a pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnology or food manufacturing environment. Experience requiring compliance with cGMP guidelines. The incumbent will be required to work outside or normal working hours (nights and weekends) from time to time.

Additional Requirements: Proven track record in technical project management and process engineering. Can apply process techno-economics to projects in order to calculate return on investment, payback period and discount cash flow. Understands manufacturing management as well as shop floor issues in a manufacturing environment. The candidate should be able to work both independently and seek peer review when needed. Good interpersonal skills including conflict resolution. Ability to gain commitment or influence others. Quality Orientated. Ability to facilitate change.
