ENGINEERING MANAGER

Senior Management opportunity for a dynamic, entrepreneurially minded Engineering Manager who enjoys the challenge of a start up with the solid financial backing of a highly successful global organization.

Our client, an international player in the renewable energy sector, is building a new manufacturing plant just outside Cape Town on the West Coast. Reporting to the local Plant Manager, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the engineering of products and processes with the aim of maximizing productivity while minimizing costs and ensuring optimum plant availability.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE:

• Implementation of systems to manage legal compliance to all relevant local legislation.
• Implementation of manufacturing policies & procedures
• Providing internal guidance for the definition of welding processes
• Lead product engineering
• Supervise overall equipment maintenance management
• Assess the quality of tools, machinery, and equipment.
• Conduct productivity analysis & performance management, support materials planning
• Determine methods, timelines and strategies for optimizing engineering of products & processes
• Define human and material resources necessary to meeting the production schedule and production improvement objectives
• Provide guidance to the Production Manager
• Report to the local Plant Manager & to corporate Chief Technical Officer, providing clear plans & metrics

REQUIREMENTS:

• University degree in Engineering (an International Master Degree is advantageous)
• Minimum 3 years’ proven experience as Engineering Manager in a multinational industrial company, ideally in Steel, Automotive, Wind Tower Manufacturing industry.
• Working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft office
• Fluent in English

Advantageous would be knowledge and professional experience in welding engineering, product development and product engineering and Kaizen & Lean Manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop strong relationships at an Executive level, proven ability to train people as well as manage multiple complex projects and situations simultaneously.
