Minimum requirements:
• Engineering Degree (Civil) or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution;
• Professional registration as an Engineer/Technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa
• 5 Years’ post registration experience in the detail design, contract administration and supervision of large scale municipal civil engineering infrastructure projects;
• Extensive experience in the preparation of procurement and construction documentation in terms of the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB regulations);
• Extensive experience in Contract Administration and Inspection of large scale municipal civil engineering infrastructure projects in terms of the General Conditions of Contract for Construction Works
Key Performance Areas
• Preparation of procurement and contract documentation to contract service providers and contractors for the design and implementation of civil engineering infrastructure to the various Phases of the organisation;
• Oversee the planning and design of civil engineering infrastructure to the various Phases of the organisation;
• Review and approve all designs of civil engineering infrastructure projects commissioned by the organisation;
• Preparation of technical and financial reports related to the implementation civil engineering infrastructure projects;
• Manage project delivery and monitor progress of all designated infrastructure works in terms of budget, implementation programmes, quality of works, safety of construction and environmental compliance;
• Develop and implement maintenance plans for all installed civil engineering infrastructure in line with Maintenance Strategy;
• Financial and Risk management of civil engineering infrastructure projects implemented by the organisation.
Knowledge and Skills
• Design of Civil Engineering infrastructure;
• Contract administration and supervision in terms of the General Conditions of Contract for Construction Works;
• Project management skills;
• Knowledge of relevant legislation applicable to the design and installation of civil engineering infrastructure(Engineering, Safety, Land Development, Town Planning and Environmental);
• MS Office proficiency
• Communication skills in terms of general interaction and presentations;
• Report writing skills
