Reporting to the local Plant Manager and to the Corporate Chief Technical Officer, the
Engineering Manager will have overall responsibility for the engineering of products &
processes with the aim of maximize productivity while minimizing costs and ensuring optimum
plant availability.
The position is based in Atlantis, Cape Town, South Africa
Occasional national & international travels could be required
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
University degree in Engineering (an International Master Degree is valuable)
Proven experience of minimum 3 years as Engineering Manager in a multinational industrial
company, ideally in Steel, Automotive, Wind Tower Manufacturing industry
Highly valuable knowledge & professional experience in: welding engineering, product
development & product engineering, organization of maintenance processes, process
engineering, Kaizen & Lean Manufacturing
Able to develop strong relationships at an Executive level , influencing people to reach
targets and promoting the engineering culture at the plant
Proven ability to train people, to liaise with all internal functions, to promote development
and manage improvement actions
Able to quickly adapt to changing priorities and to handle multiple complex projects and
situations simultaneously.
Working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft office
Fluent in English
RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned considering business priorities)
Implement systems to manage legal compliance to all relevant local legislation.
Implement manufacturing policies & procedures making sure to continuously improve
efficiency, increase productivity and meet customers specification
Providing internal guidance for the definition of welding processes
Lead product engineering, with the aim of complying with client specifications, quality
requests and projects technical requirements
Supervise overall equipment maintenance management & lead improvements in the
engineering of productions line
Assess the quality of tools, machinery, and equipment. Be a technical expert in
addressing procurement of new machineries and tools
Conduct productivity analysis & performance management, support materials planning
Determine methods, timelines and strategies for optimizing engineering of products &
processes
Define human and material resources necessary to meeting the production schedule
and production improvement objectives
Provide guidance to the Production Manager in taking decisions redirecting efforts,
implementing improvements constantly
Report to the local Plant Manager & to corporate Chief Technical Officer, providing
clear plans & metrics and establishing trust
