Engineering Manager

Salary: – R 95 000.00 p/m
Area: Based in Pretoria

Company does the design and manufacturing of a Training Aircraft in the Military field. It is a start-up company but the processes took already 10 years. The company uses Catia as a design platform.

An engineering Manager is required that can manage a team of design and project engineers to meet deadlines and take the aircraft through all the phases of the design process. The ideal person must have the ability to work with brilliant design engineers, strong willed individuals as well as a competent introvert engineers. The main aim is to motivate the staff to work towards a common goal and achieve set targets.
Qualification:
• BEng/ BSc -Mechanical Engineering
• Ideally MEM qualification
Experience
• At least 10 years’ experience in the aeronautical design and project Engineering field
• Background knowledge of Aircraft design processes highly desirable
• Background knowledge of missile or Control systems – Mechatronics simulator design highly desirable
• Independent strategic thinking person.
• Proven functional, quality and operational management skills.
• Chairing, conducting and attending meetings.
• Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Strong delegating abilities.
• Excellent leadership skills
Responsibilities:
• Management of engineering design team
• Integrate team and motivate them in achieving common goals
• Utilize knowledge on designs to deliver aircraft in set timeframes
• Manage full life cycle process design
• Collaborate current design team consist of designers in airworthiness, structures and system engineers.
• Utilize knowledge to oversee Engineering activities pertaining to the System; Design; Logistic Support; Reliability and Maintainability and managing all associated
• Leading Project design and Project engineering activities
• Improvements
• Managing, approving, auditing and improving system integrity, aviation safety and OHS.
• Project management including scheduling and cost analysis, resource management, negotiation with vendors and ensuring service contracts are adhered to
