PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
Ensure safe working conditions for department employees
Ensure and improve Reliability of Plant equipment
Set and Control maintenance budget
Monitor and Control inventory of spare parts and consumable stocking levels.
Develop department employees and promote communication and cooperation within and outside the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Set performance objectives and priorities for the department in line with the Plant ambition
Promote the participation from department employees through delegation of responsibilities, sharing of information on the plants and department’s goals and
constraints and recognition of individual performance.
Ensure the competence of department employees by initiating training, coaching, counselling or discipline procedures to respond to items identified in
the performance reviews.
Coordinate all labour issues within the department in compliance with the Collective Agreement, Labour Law and Employment Equity Act.
Must be proficient in Predictive and Preventative Maintenance systems both in
theory and in practice.
Coordinate equipment inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, and breakdowns of all plant mechanical, electrical and infrastructural equipment.
Plans maintenance activities in a way that is compatible with the overall operation of the plant. Planning both long-term (3-Year Performance Plan and
budget) and short term (monthly or weekly activities).
Reports actions and results for his area of responsibility through monthly activity communication and annual reports.
Provide input for each function of the department towards cost budgeting, cost forecasting and control of department expenditure.
Participate in the preparation of the long-term plan mainly in the setting of goals as well as the identification and definition of projects necessary for staying in
business improvement.
Maintain the staffing of department as per accepted guidelines and cope with plant demands through the use of overtime, contractors or other internal and
external sources.
Constantly look for new methods of operation for the department which will improve equipment reliability, maintain expected life span of equipment and
reduce department costs.
Develop procedures with suppliers to ensure equipment reliability, maximise their service, minimize the cost and minimize the plant inventory.
Performs any other reasonable tasks when requested by Plant Manager.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field
Minimum 5 years maintenance management experience in the manufacturing or related industry.
Understanding of complex mechanical and electrical technology and equipment.
Government Certificate of Competency (GCC)
