Hotel in the Drakensberg is seeking an Entertainment Manager who will be responsible for the overall Operation and profitability of the Entertainment Department, the overall control of the Equestrian Centre, the administration of Entertainment Stock, and the operation of guest satisfaction in line with company policy or as directed by the General Manager

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that the correct ordering procedures for all Entertainment Stock and Activities are adhered to, in line with company policy and or as per direction of the General Manager.
  • The Entertainment Manager will advise the General Manager in advance of any out of stock situation with the suppliers.
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that effective stock control and stock procedures and methods are enforced and will ensure that the Beverage Cost and Village Market Stock Results are maintained as per budgeted results and inline with Potential Stock Results in relation to the respective sales mix.
  • The Entertainment Manager will oversee monthly stock counts of all entertainment stock, inclusive of Sound Equipment, Kiddies Activity Stock, Music CD’s, Movie DVD’s, Sport areas and Gym, but not limited to only these areas, and will tabulate the results and report back to the Financial Manager and General Manager.
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that (s)he purchase the best quality product at the best available price in accordance to the standards agreed to by the General Manager.
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that the staff under his / her control adheres to all HACCAP principles and local legislation governing the receiving and storing of food & beverage items.
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that the Team is well trained in terms of Product knowledge to be able to confidently assist guest with any queries relating to the Entertainment department as well as issues pertaining to the resort as a whole or the environment.
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that all Store Rooms which is utilized by Entertainment staff and for any and all entertainment stock is maintained in an appropriate level and in compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Hygiene Laws and that HACCAP Principles are Applied
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that the products are purchased in accordance to the agreed standards as per direction received from the General Manager.
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure continuity of supply of all Advertisement Posters,  and Activity Stock whilst maintaining cognizance of limiting Stock Holding in line with Direction of the Financial Manager or the General Manager
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that he/she communicates with the guests and conducts regular satisfaction checks, feedback to his / her team and the General Manager.
  • The Entertainment Manager will be responsible to monitor and evaluate the GSI (Guest Satisfaction Index) results pertaining to the Entertainment Department and taking corrective measures to ensure that these are kept within company targets.
  • The Entertainment Manager will be responsible for updating the activity board of the resort on a daily basis, and ensuring that the activity guidelines are adhered to by staff
  • The Entertainment Manager will be responsible for all party evenings held in the tavern, or if groups request the in house DJ to be used in function rooms.
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that the Equestrian staff, the Guest Liaison Manager, and trainees in the team are a highly motivated team.
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that the Team is managed in accordance with the BCEA ( Basic Conditions of Employment Act), EEA, (Employment Equity Act), Occupational Health and Safety Act, Company Policy and any other Law governing the employment of staff.
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that his / her team receives the correct training to complete their duties correctly.
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that his/her team are fully updated on the activities offered in the area, and that his/her team communicates this sufficiently to guests if and when guests has requests pertaining to this.
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that communication by his team to other departments is kept in good order, and that other departments receive entertainment information timeously.
  • The Entertainment Manager will ensure that all team members entering his / her department receive their Job Descriptions timeously and that they receive and are familiar with all policies and procedures
