A leading leather manufacturer in Atlantis is looking to appoint an Environmental Health and Safety Officer who would also be responsible for the effective functioning of the company’s Laboratory.

As the Environmental Officer the candidate would have to evaluate the environment, equipment and processes in the working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards. More specific to this position would be the effective implementation of the Leather Working Group’s (LWG) objective to develop and maintain an environmental auditing protocol that assesses the environmental stewardship and compliance of the tannery, while promoting sustainable and environmental business practices. The Officer will also be responsible to re-organize the company’s laboratory to provide a complete service, conducting compliance testing on in-process and finished leathers thus ensuring the end products conforms to the LWG’s protocol and set industry standards.

Requirements:
2-3 years’ work experience as an Environmental Health and Safety Officer/Lab Technician; Grade 12 plus a Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety; and knowledge and experience in the leather manufacturing industry would be advantageous.
