Adequate environmental knowledge to understand and implement the CEMP & Company specifications and procedures.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Maintain a HSE Management System in line with ISO standards
Ensure that HSE related matters pertaining to the HSE Management System are implemented & managed in accordance with the Legal, Client, Corporate and Site standards.
Promotion of Pollution controls and prevention
Ensure all waste are properly segregated, reduced and disposed of.
Ensure all objectives and targets pertaining to this role are met.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure compliance with HSE Plan/ cEMP/ RoD/ HSE Management System, specific client/ project and other statutory requirements.
Ensure that the requirements of the cEMP is communicated and understood by personnel and contractors on site and enforced.
On-going research and implementation of climate change minimization strategies, biodiversity conservation and liability & undertake an industry analysis and determine world class practices and procedures in managing environmental risks.
Waste, sanitation, domestic, storm and wastewater management.
Formulate and motivate for environmental project budget, with spending forecast plans.
Record results of inspections, audits, incidents, analyze the trends and advise management accordingly and share successes and lessons learnt with other business units.
Develop the required training presentations and ensure that all employees are trained and familiar with the Site Environmental requirements.
Identifying environmental impacts and aspects relating to the day-to-day construction activities;
Continually update Aspect & Impact Risk Register/ cEMP according to the findings trends & review mitigation measures/ risk controls as required.
Provide general professional environmental and ecological advice.
Input on tender preparation for Contractor selection.
Manage Contractors and review and approve their Environmental Management System.
Conduct monthly audits on all Illovo Sugar South Africa contractors as required by the applicable legal and other requirements and follow-up on implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
Production of environmental awareness and training material, including conducting training as and when required.
Compile accurate environmental performance and other reports, in line with Client, Site and Head Office requirements.
Liaising with the client regarding project environmental matters and providing accurate feedback at meetings.
Ensure proper monitoring, evaluation, control and investigation of environmental incidents.
Maintenance of the ISO 14001 certification.
Miscellaneous Health & Safety activities: Support Health and Safety to ensure successful implementation and maintenance of the Integrated HSE Management System.
