NEPAD Business Foundation (NBF) is looking to recruit a dynamic Events and Marketing Coordinator who will be responsible for the management and coordination of specific flagship events in 2017. This is an initial four-month contract, with the possibility to extend to a longer-term position.

The Events and Marketing Coordinator position holds responsibility for the development and implementation of the marketing and communications plans, and the maintenance of the website for specific NBF programmes. This position develops sponsorship/ partnership arrangements and relationships with businesses, individuals and organisations wishing to support NBF’s events and activities. This position will work in coordination with other related projects, programmes and other internal and external stakeholders.
Reporting Relationship: Position reports to Programme Manager: Southern Africa Business Forum
Requirement: A strong team player with exceptional inter-personal skills.
Education: Graduation from a 3-year tertiary course in event management, communication, marketing and/or public relations.
Minimum of two years’ experience in a paid special events, marketing and website management position.
Evidence of successful event, sponsorship, marketing, public relations, website and business development/relationship programmes required.
A shorter certificate course with a minimum of 5 years related work experience, preferably with a non-profit organisation, may substitute.
Event, communication, marketing and/or public relations experience highly desirable.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
Planning, implementation and follow-up for events and receptions.
Develop and maintain event and membership databases.
Coordinate event logistics, media, public relations, advertising and collateral material design, production and distribution.
Responsible for the development of the events and marketing budgets.
Sponsorship document/ proposal development.
Coordinate logistics of event sales.
Supervise and coordinate with event contractors.
Develop and implement marketing plans and materials.
Write, submit and follow-up to ensure placement on press releases with local and regional media.
Maintenance of website, and maintenance and broadening of social networking forums for the organisation.
Establishment and expansion of merchandise opportunities.

Other Skills and Abilities: Position requires demonstrated applied skills in word processing, website maintenance and other computer software, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point).
Ability to work without direct supervision in a small office environment is required.
Candidate must hold a valid driver’s license and possess a car.
