To effectively manage and control the day to day and long-term operations of the Housekeeping Department, including Rooms, Public Areas, All Standards, Quality of the Décor, Uniform - Linen and Valet Department. Ensuring that the Housekeeping Department operates in accordance with the hotel’s Policies and Procedures in order to achieve the business objectives of the hotel as well as maintain the exceptional service standards.

 

A recognized Hospitality qualification advantageous

Five years relevant experience in a similar position within a 5 star hotel environment

A comprehensive understanding of the Hotel Industry and the ability to leverage upon such for the benefit of the customer experience and associate morale

To have an in depth knowledge of the intricacies and detail involved in forecasting, budgeting and cost containment and to set goals in terms of best international benchmarking

A thorough and in-depth knowledge of stock control

Attention to detail

Proficiency in Microsoft packages as well as extensive knowledge of Opera PMS

Experience in IR management and disciplinary processes

Good leadership and interpersonal skills essential.

 

Report directly to the Rooms Division Manager

Manage the daily & long-term control & running of the Housekeeping department and effectively co-ordinate and supervise the operations of the department as deemed necessary

Ensure the highest standards of service excellence and quality within the housekeeping department and to ensure that every guest complaint is handled and solved to the satisfaction of the guest

To align the focus of the housekeeping department upon the strategic intent of the organisation

To set clear directions and goals for all members of the team and to monitor performance within a time frame also providing honest feedback

To lead from the front in terms of customer interaction and to provide meaningful and detailed feedback to staff

To interact, guide and motivate staff on all levels to be in a position to deliver exceptional and world-class service

Ensure accurate stock take.

Maintain duty rosters.

Quality checks to be done in guest rooms & public areas

Ensuring that staff follow the correct policies and procedures of the hotel & department

Liaise with other departments and associates to ensure the smooth running of Rooms Division to ensure strong collaboration between Operations Teams

Effective planning, assigning and delegations of tasks to meet deadlines

IR management - ensure disciplinary processes are carried out and adhered to and address & resolve staff concerns

Effective communication, problem solving, decision making and conflict management.
