Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement SME Strategy and monitor compliance
• Develop plans and execute projects and initiatives that support the broader short and long term SME Strategy
• Initiate SME projects and strategic interventions to meet the Annual Performance Plan targets
• Develop and administer the Unit’s operational and project budgets
• Align the performance of the Unit to the overall strategic objectives of the Company
• Develop and implement effective information systems which support strategic decision-making
• Provide strategic leadership on Risk Management within the Unit
• Manage relationships with a variety of SME stakeholders
• Seek opportunities to sponsor and/or co-sponsor relevant SME events
• Build, maintain and partner with strategic partnerships with relevant organizations and institutions, including other SETAs
• Provide advice to the SETA on issues relating to SMEs
• Represent the SETA at various SME forums
• Implement sound financial management in line with the PFMA, and any other applicable government policies
• Lead good corporate governance within the Unit
• Develop and implement policies and prepare programmes, processes and procedures
• Provide management to the Unit
• Build and maintain an effective team within the Unit
• Implement the best performance management practices, coaching and mentorship methods
• Lead the Unit to achieve set goals and targets within set timeframes
• Create and maintain a culture of performance and efficiency

• Understanding and knowledge of corporate governance principles and legislation including but not limited to Companies Act and King III Report
• Knowledge and understanding of the applicable legislative statutes and regulations in a SETA environment
• Advanced negotiation skills
• Diplomacy

Minimum Requirements:

• Postgraduate degree in Humanities / Commerce
• Bachelor’s degree in Humanities / Commerce
• NQF Qualification in Project Management
• Matric
• 5 years’ experience in a SETA / Public Sector environment
• 3 years’ experience in a management role within a Public Sector environment
• In depth knowledge of the Wholesale and Retail Sector
