As part of a strategic national initiative to support the nation’s newly developing technology and industrial sectors, new state schools are being built for the most academically gifted Kazakh children in cities around the country. At every school thousands of children compete for fewer than 90 places a year, and only the best and brightest are offered a place.

Class sizes are small - only 15 per class, and you will be team teaching with a Kazakh teacher with whom you will share best teaching practice. The school year runs from Sept through June/July. The programme requires teachers to teach the academically gifted pupils in one of the following subjects at upper High School/upper Secondary: Science (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology) , Maths, ICT, Global Perspectives, or Economics; They also require High School/Secondary School Team Leaders to help manage the overseas teachers academically, as well as High School/Secondary School Vice-Principals who help to mentor local Kazakh Principals and to help run the schools. You will be using a curriculum that has been specially developed by experts at Cambridge University and the Kazakhstan Department of Education

PAY AND BENEFITS 1 year contract US$4000 per month (Astana/Almaty) or US$5000 per month (other cities) for teachers, Subject to only 10% tax. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 3 years of recent experience teaching the subject required at the highest upper secondary/high school level (Advanced Placement, IB, A level, Leaving Certificate etc) in English. Full teaching qualification/certification such as a Bachelors or Masters of Education, or PGCE Degree appropriate to your teaching subject Flexible, adaptable, resilient and culturally sensitive personality with a high tolerance for uncertainty and change, and a willingness to contribute to the wider school community. Complete English fluency/English mother tongue
