The company is seeking to employ a highly competent fabric buyer with industry experience and knowledge of fabrics and buying.

Minimum Requirements:
Matric Certificate
Completed Diploma/Certificate/Degree in Purchasing
4-5 years’ purchasing experience
Experience in textile purchasing – highly preferable
Strong competence in Excel and MRP programme - important
Ability to meet tight deadlines
Problem Solver
Excellent negotiation skills both written and telephonic
Experience from a manufacturing company preferred.
Driver’s license and own transport

Duties:
Forecast demand = Ensure the company always has enough stock of materials that are often required for the job as indicated by MRP software;
Ascertain in conjunction with the production planning team on the production plan;
Source quality suppliers in accordance with the customer requirements to provide raw material on time in full at the agreed price;
Develop and maintain a supplier database (raw material suppliers and transport suppliers) and manage their performance against the agreed service level agreements;
Evaluate inventory levels - Ensure that purchases are in line with production needs to avoid unnecessary redundancies and or inventory increases;
Negotiate cost effective prices and payment terms and perform benchmarking;
Ensure approved purchase orders are communicated timeously. Expedite raw material from supplier to production;
Liaise with planning and production and manage quality issues with the supplier.
