There’s a vacancy for a Farm Manager at a sheep and grain farm in the Riversdal area.

Job Description:

* Manage the farm’s activities in the Caledon, Botrivier and Riversdal areas
* Uphold sustainable farming practices at all times
* General management: Planning the activities for the season, month, week and day; Organising farming activities and the workers’ daily tasks; Coordinating farming activities to ensure maximum productivity and cost effectiveness; Giving guidance to other employees and; Working closely with admin clerk to keep records up to date
* Manage human resources
* Ensure working conditions are safe and hygienic
* Stay abreast of the latest farming practices and innovations
* Ensure that assets are secured and insured
* Upkeep and monitoring of sheep alarms
* Ensure that the gates along the main routes are closed at all times and that wire fences aren’t damaged
* Manage logistics and finances

Requirements:

* Educational qualifications (min. Grade 12)
* Agricultural knowledge and experience with the management of a workforce, grain farming (planting, crop spraying, harvesting) and sheep
farming (herds and feeding camps), and related farming activities
* A valid driver’s license and be able to drive a tractor, as well as planting and harvesting machinery
* Knowledge of agri-tech systems such as GPS, etc.
* Must be skilled at diesel mechanics, metal and woodworking and stretching wire fences
