Finance Controller Reporting – Medical Scheme – Pretoria – 3 months contract

The purpose of this role is to provide financial accounting support services to the Finance Officer Accounting in order to:
? Manage Scheme finances efficiently and effectively;
? Administering the supply chain and finances of the Head Office efficiently; and
? Assessing and mitigating risks.

Manage Scheme finances efficiently and prudently
? Prepare weekly expenditure report and submit for review by the Finance Accounting Officer
? Resolve any queries arising from the weekly expenditure reports submission to EXCO
? Maintain the management accounts template of the Scheme and ensure alignment with CMS guidelines and update when necessary
? Develop frequently used reports in the Schemes accounting system using the reporting tool provided
? Populate monthly management accounts with information for submission to the Finance Officer: Accounting for finalisation
? Provide input to the Finance Officer: Accounting in order to finalise the financial performance reports of the Scheme to the Council for Medical Schemes
? Capture draft of SRM and statutory returns on the CMS system
? Submit draft of SRM and Statutory returns to Finance Officer: Accounting for review
? Prepare claim run projection report based on information provided by the administrator
? Develop and report on the Scheme’s procurement spend, with a focus on BEE levels and black ownership
? Obtain all information required for the annual integrated report and submit to SM:F for use in the report asset register
? Prepare motivation for the disposal or scrapping of any Scheme assets
? Provide inputs and suggestions on reporting format used for the budget reviews
? Prepare ad-hoc reports as and when required

Administer Head Office supply chain and finances efficiently
? Ensure compliance with Scheme systems, processes and policies
? Run pending order report and check against pending order files
? Ensure financial records are maintained for audit purposes
? Track and report incorrect allocations in the GL
? Prepare and submit a quarterly physical asset verification report indicating existence, usage, allocation and possible adjustment to the fixed

Assess and mitigate risk
? Ensure deadlines are met at all times
? Attend to all audit queries timeously
? Assess operational risks and provide input during the divisional risk assessment process
? Provide input on the divisions operational plan

LIAISON OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
? Service to the various Head Office divisions / Principal Officer
? Executive Finance / Senior Manager: Finance / Finance Accounting Officer
? Scheme Administrator / Service Providers

Requirements:
? Degree in Accountancy
? Minimum 2 years management accounting and reporting experience
? Computer skills preferably Microsoft excel and AX
? Knowledge of accounting systems, processes and policies
? Prior knowledge of working with business intelligence tools would be an advantage
