A prominent and rapidly growing workplace pension scheme has a job opportunity for a Finance Director to join their team in Johannesburg. The Finance Director will report into the Chief Financial Officer and has leadership, budgetary and management responsibility for the whole finance team with direct line management responsibility for the Business Performance Manager, Accounting Manager and Transactions Manager

Your key job responsibilities as the Finance Director in Johannesburg will include:

- Delivery and relationship management for all finance papers to executive board and the scheme Audit Committee and Trustee Board
- Ensuring the team produce high quality, accurate and useful financial reports and annual reports for the scheme and corporation
- Accountable for all aspects of financial planning ensuring that there is a high quality financial planning process and high quality monthly financial reporting that enables the organisation to effectively make decisions and prioritise expenditure
- Maintaining an overview of financial risks and insurance arrangements and ensure the team is working to identify and mitigates any risks. Relationship owner for finance risks with the Risk directorate
- Ensuring the finance department has appropriate and sufficient internal financial controls
- Provision of strong leadership for the finance team, demonstrate strong management skills and contribute to the overall leadership capability/initiatives within the organisation
- Acting as a deputy for the CFO, making appropriate decisions on their behalf where required and representing Finance during CFO’s periods of absence

Requirements for this Finance Director job in Johannesburg:

- Fully qualified CA
- Significant post qualification financial accounting experience, preferably with some pension scheme and/or investment industry knowledge
- Exposure to working within a regulated environment and refining processes and systems around these
- Ability to communicate credibly and confidently with stakeholders including senior management at director/Exec level, Trustee Members and Auditors
- Demonstrable track record of delivering change by managing and developing people effectively (through direct and matrix management)
- Experience of managing and overseeing a finance department, from both a technical and commercial perspective, to achieve strong results and corporation objectives
- Operational experience of running Accounts Received and Accounts Payable functions
