Finance Manager: Accounting – Medical Scheme - Pretoria

Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
? Assist Finance Manager: Reporting in drafting the executive summary for the monthly management accounts and submit to the Senior Manager for review and sign off;
? Review Head Office budget performance through the weekly expenditure reports prepared by the Scheme and, provide comments;
? Review all account reconciliations done by the Financial Controllers at month-end and recommend to the Senior Manager for approval;
? Provide inputs to the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements (AFS) for the financial year in line with IFRS and SAICA Medical Schemes guide to the Senior Manager for review;
? Manage head office finances and supply chain processes, including: Purchase requisitions and orders, and Head Office procurement;
? Provide support to business on application of Scheme Policies and Finance processes;
? Manage the Scheme’s fixed assets in collaboration with the ICT and Corporate
? Services division to ensure compliance to Scheme policy and applicable accounting standards;
? Approve all purchase orders and purchase requisitions in line with the delegated value as per scheme’s approved budget and the approved supply chain management policy;
? Ensure accurate accounting of the Scheme transactions to ensure accurate Trial Balance;
? Ownership of the accounting system to ensure accurate reporting of transactions;
? Ownership of Internal and External audit requests as it pertains to the area;
? Ensure financial records are maintained for audit purposes;
? Track compliance to policies and ensure that instances of non-compliance are reported to the Finance Manager: Compliance;
? Provide inputs to the annual Head Office budget annually;
? Provide input to the annual review of the finance related policies of the Scheme; and Supervise and manage the performance of junior staff reporting to this position.

Qualification, skills and competencies requirements are:
? Must have Degree in Accountancy and preferably completed articles;
? Minimum of 5 years financial management work experience with at least 3 years management level experience;
? Studying towards a CFA or CA would be an added advantage;
? Be organised and have good time management skills;
? Be analytical and have the ability to manage priorities;
? Have excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
? Have the ability to work well as part of a team;
? Be computer literate on advanced level;
? Be responsible and reliable;
? Have a diligent work ethic with attention to detail;
? Self-motivated and pro-active;
? Have strong negotiation skills and resilient pressure management abilities;
? Staff management experience;
? Must be in possession of a valid driver’s licence and own vehicle and be willing to travel at short notice; and
? Have an understanding of medical schemes industry.
