Overview:

Provide leadership and coordination of all accounting and finance functions of the company including, reporting and budget management functions.

Description:

- Direct and coordinate company accounting, financial planning and budget management functions.
- Oversee daily operations of the finance/accounting department.
- Ensure proper internal controls are established and followed.
- Ensure proper management of accounts receivables and payables.
- Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts and ensure compliance thereon.
- Ensure timely preparation of payroll and payment of wages and salaries each month.
- Prepare monthly vat returns and ensure they are filed on time.
- Monitor and analyse monthly operating results against budget.
- Manage the preparation of the monthly, half-yearly and annual financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards, - Accepted Accounting Practices, and press releases relating to financial performance.
- Manage the preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with federal laws relating to taxation and preparation of returns.
- Work with divisional managers, corporate and departmental staff to develop short and medium term business plans for the company.
- Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures for the finance division.
- Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives.
- Serve on planning and policy-making committees.
- Serve as primary legislative liaison relative to company financial issues.
- Manage and liaise with external auditors for annual financial audit and preparation and filing of tax returns, annual returns, CIPC returns and any other statutory filings.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• CA (SA) or ACCA with a degree in Commerce/Business studies
• At least five years post-qualification work experience in industry
• Exposure in preparation of financial statements in compliance with IFRS
• In-depth knowledge of Pastel accounting software.
• Knowledge and experience of preparation of financial statements as per International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Knowledge and experience in complying with requirement of International Accounting Standards in the maintenance of books of account and preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Computer literate in excel, power point, word processing, etc.
