Position Purpose Establish, maintain and control the general financial function for the division in order to comply with the guidelines given by the organisation and requirements by International Financial Reporting Standards.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Provide and interpret financial information
  • Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to managerial staff while recommending further courses of action
  • Monitor and interpret cash flows and predict future trends
  • Analyse change and advise accordingly
  • Formulate strategic and long term business plans
  • Research and report on factors influencing business performance
  • Analyse competitors and market trends
  • Develop financial management mechanisms that minimize financial risk
  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities
  • Overall management of the company’s financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems
  • First point of contact with liaising with internal and external auditors
  • Develop external relationships with appropriate contacts e.g. auditors, solicitors, bankers and statutory organizations
  • Produce accurate financial reports to specific deadlines
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts to specific deadlines
  • Supervise, train and develop staff
  • Keep abreast changes in financial regulations and legislation
  • Ensure that the company is compliant
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures in line with Africa Group Policies and Procedures

 

 Minimum Key Qualifications

  • A(SA) – highly preferred
  • ACMA
  • Accounting Degree
  • Proven experience as a Financial Manager
  • Solid FM background
  • 3-5 years’ Post Articles experience
  • Technically sound with an eye for risk management, internal controls, statutory compliance and reporting
  • Strong commercial flair with exceptional business acumen
  • Impeccable communication skills with the ability to present independently to very senior clients
  • A well-balanced, presentable individual with strong ethics and values
  • Proficient user of finance software
  • A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
  • Strong Excel skills are required including Pivot Tables, V & H Look-Ups, Sum-Ifs, basic Formulas and proficient in one or more of the accounting packages like Pastel, AccPac or similar
  • Must be self-driven, able to work independently, be assertive, have a thirst to learn and ambition to grow as well as an abundance of common sense
