A renowned community development organisation seeks a FINANCE OFFICER to be employed at the Johannesburg offices of the Foundation. The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

While the primary responsibilities are outlined below, this list should be viewed as a starting point, as the position will evolve and grow according to the successful candidate’s interests and aptitude, as well as the growth of the organization.

The Finance Officer will

- Plan, organize, direct and control financial functions, and provide sound financial services to the organization 

- Manage and implement key financial performance areas, financial policies, systems and procedures

- Provide financial oversight and due diligence in maintaining financial controls whilst ensuring sustainable growth

- Undertake an audit of existing accounting packages and recommend one system that he or she will then introduce and implement.

- Maintain the integrity and ensure accuracy of all financial data and monitoring of cash flow 

- Oversee the financial grant compliance component of programs, including monitoring financial reporting

- Oversee the development of annual organisational and project-specific budgets

- Ensure effective systems are in place to implement monthly management and annual financial reports as well as donor-specific reports as required

- Manage all government fiduciary requirements related to Non-Profit Companies Act regulations and ensure compliance with all matters relating to SARS

- Oversee, prepare and support the annual financial audit 

SKILLS QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will possess ;

- A Bachelor's degree / diploma in finance and/or business administration

- A minimum of FIVE years proven financial and administrative accounting experience with in depth knowledge of financial processes in an NGO environment;

- Knowledge of South African accounting and financial laws as well as SARS requirements;

- Experience in financial donor reporting;

- Proven experience in working in all Pastel accounting areas with the ability to establish and generate donor-specific reports;

- Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and Word;

- The ability to analyse financial information efficiently and accurately;

- The ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work;

- The ability to communicate effectively in English and at least one other South African

- A highly organised personality, be able to work independently with minimal supervision, pay great attention to detail, able to problem-solve, be delivery-oriented and work to deadlines,

- Be articulate and able to present effectively, and work well within a team.
