The Financial Accountant internship will be focused on developing a suitable candidate to fulfill the full responsibility of the financial management of IFS Africa’s accounts and reporting thereof.

Main Areas of Responsibility
General Accounting:
• Co-ordinate the HR administration of all employees on the global and local systems.
• Provide a full finance function
o Co-ordination and processing of supplier invoices and payments.
o Verify all supplier invoices are captured against correct account codes and cost centers.
o Monitor expenses on a daily basis – check that nothing is paid that should not be paid.
o Ensure payments are made on due date based on terms agreed with Suppliers.
o Check all expenses against the budget for the year.
o Closely monitor all travel costs and other project costs.
o Collection of all debtors amounts outstanding within defined timeframes.
o Update of Monthly Aged Debtors Report to be provided to the Financial Director.
o Ensure timeous and 100% accurate billing of clients.
o Creation of client invoices and statements.
o Processing of all intercompany transactions & reconciliations
o Process cash book and bank transactions into the system.
o Process of monthly provisions and other manual journal entries.
o Prepare monthly revenue accruals
o Processing of monthly payroll and expense claim entries.
o Maintain fixed asset register.
o Process monthly invoicing.
• Management of Foreign Exchange exposure and forward cover agreements.
• Timeous response to internal and external queries.
• Liaison with Project / Account managers to assist in resolving queries on accounts and project costs.
• Adhere to Group Financial business processes and systems to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Monthly Management Reporting to IFS Group.
• Adhere to all Financial Reporting requirements.
• Provide the Financial Director with information required to prepare financial statements and reports.
• Prepare VAT, PAYE and all other statutory returns.
• Reconciliation of revenue, cost and Balance sheet accounts.
• Preparation of and completion of annual Audit.
• Preparation of BEE audit information.
• Prepare / Update monthly Forecast sheets.
• Prepare annual budget sheets.
• Manage daily tasks of the office administration department.

Experience
As this role will be an internship, any of the following experience will be advantageous:
• Working within a finance department on an ERP system (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Sage etc.)
• Handling the responsibilities of a Financial Accounting position in a small to medium size Company.

Computer literacy in MS Word, MS Excel is a requirement

Qualifications
• A suitable tertiary qualification, such as a BCom Finance, CIS or equivalent tertiary qualification.
• Articles, post article experience will be advantageous
