Financial Accounts Controller

Area: Kempton Park

Package: Salary R 40 000 P/M plus Medical aid, Provident Fund

Responsible for assisting the Financial Manager in ensuring that all invoices are processed timeously and accurately, paid on time and supplier accounts reconciled, while at the same time meeting company governance and risk management standards and respecting deadlines.

Responsibilities:
• The Financial Accounts Controller performs the following duties:
• Validate the main drivers of value creation of the business; get the organization to identify and use such drivers (e.g. standard cost drivers in industry),
• With the manager, facilitate in defining strategy and developing investment project, progress initiatives and activity project portfolios (for research & development and Information Systems entities).
• Define priority criteria in line with strategy. Ensure that feasibility is confirmed by thoroughly investigating resource requirements.
• Conduct monitoring and analysis of all projects and progress actions against the three criteria of cost, deadline and scope, and supervise corrective action plans.
• Direct certain ongoing cross-cutting actions (e.g. profitability improvement),
• Train entity's non-financial staff responsible for managing organization's economic functions,
• Take responsibility for the financial processes within his/her remit; check relevance and appropriateness of analysis requests throughout the entity,
• Over and above business considerations, provide advice for decision-making and, in the event of disagreement, use persuasion and tact,
• Have an overall view of company's various functions (supply chain, marketing, industry, sales, research and development, quality, etc.),
• Actively meet all requirements of the various financial functions (accountancy, tax, treasury, internal control).
• Drives standardization while contributing to the necessary choices for the services for steering; supports and promotes the entity
• Review the entity statement on monthly basis (closing review: balance sheet and incomes)
• Drives the relationship with the Outsourcing partner to ensure reporting within the deadlines and the quality required by the Group.
• Holds regular meetings with outsourcing partner to ensure good functioning and resolves any issues.
• Flow up of the SLA as defined in the contract.
• Holds regular meetings within the network, ensures dissemination of good practices and promotes exchange of experience,
• Defines job profiles and training plans and ensures that people have undergone training,
• Develops people's skills and helps position them in their field,
• Participates in classifying persons with management and checks they have requisite skills,
• Forwards to management annual objectives falling within his/her functional remit; monitors and manages their implementation,
• Participates with management in assessing and setting targets,

Prerequisites
Educational level or equivalent:
• B Com (Honours) – Finance / Accounting / Financial Management

Professional experience:
• 3 – 5 year’s work experience (Finance /Controlling)
• Management of staff – none negotiable

Non-Negotiable Requirements
• Technical accounting skills (GAAP, IFRS)
• Managing the annual internal control audit
• Managing year end statutory audit process
• Tax: Corporate / VAT / Customs
• Monthly closing and reporting of the GL and sub-reports
• Forecasting / budgeting
• Ability to lead and motivate teams to produce quality results within tight reporting deadlines
