My client, an established corporate in the agricultural sector, is looking to engage a Financial Controller to report to the CFO.


1. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
(A statement of the reason for the position’s existence. A brief summary of the role of the position)

• Responsible for the financial accounting activities including GL, TAX, VAT, consolidation, and forex;
• Ensuring a sound internal control environment in the group;
• Process the annual audit;
• Publishing income statement balance sheet and cash flow statements for group monthly, quarterly and annually;
• To ensure statutory compliance,
• and continuously analyse and update financial policies and procedures;

2. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Annual audit – clean, on time - IFRS
• Tax – compliance
• Sound policies procedures and internal controls
• Staff Management
• Publishing Fin statements for company and consolidated financial statements for the group
• Strategies for tax optimisation
• BBBEEE administration

3. VITAL RESPONSIBILITIES
(E.g. Budgets, Sales, Employees, Units produced etc.)

• Accurate and timeous fin records and statuary submissions

4. LEVELS OF AUTHORITY / DEGREE OF SUPERVISION

• Staff Recruitment and dismissal

5. COMPETENCIES / SKILLS
(E.g Behavioural ,Interpersonal, Technical, Computer)

• Pastel – preferred
• Must be able to deal with management and staff and all levels

6. EDUCATION & TRAINING

• Qualified CA(SA)
• Completed SAICA Articleship
• Strong academic background (1st time passing / Golden Key type)

7. EXPERIENCE
(Career path that should ideally be followed before reaching this position)

• Articleship Clerkship completed
• Plus minimum 4 – 5 years’ experience post articles Financial Management experience – preferably within a big corporate
• Demonstrated people management abilities
• Ability to analyse and improve / implement sound financial reporting and monitoring systems and procedures
