Financial Controller

Area: Boksburg

Package: Basic Salary R38000 plus benefits.

Purpose of position: Assists business entity in their management by analysing performance and assisting in steering the business.

Prerequisites
Educational level or equivalent:
Matric (Gr.12) Non-Negotiable
Completed Bachelor’s Degree (Management accounting / Financial Planning and Analysis / Accounting / Financial Management)
Completed post-grad degree (advantageous)
Excel (Advanced) MUST have excellent Excel skills being able to handle heavy data sheets (pivots, H lookup etc)

Responsibilities:

• To provide financial management through effective processing, monitoring, budgeting / forecasting, financial analysis and reporting.
• Liaise closely with stakeholders via the weekly meetings to ensure their requirements are understood and met
• Distribute the approved budget / forecast into branches & the branch profitability
• Perform balance sheet audit
• Monitor and assist with the clearing and the reconciliation of all suspense accounts
• Proper financial control, culture of discipline, ensuring business is up to date with what they spend – controls, headcount
• Prepare monthly financial packs, analysing and reporting on income statements
• Assist in the formulation of budgets, forecasts and three year plans and monitoring and controlling thereof
• Ensure validity of payments, ensure appropriate approval, accurate and timeous capturing
• Process all authorised payments, expense claims, journals, late entries, capex requests, staff claims to other clusters, track payment and create provisions
• Monitor and ensure fixed asset verification, headcount verification, debtors and creditors recons
• Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on qualitative or quantitative data
• Strategic involvement & ad hoc support to business units
• Assist branches to improve profitability to increase the revenue through value adding recommendations and / or advice
• Analyse and make recommendations around issues that are important with regard to financial reporting – communicate and educate stakeholders
• Explain variance between predictor, flash and month end results prior to the closing of the GL to the centre
• Direct and enable business decisions through effective financial analysis, reporting and making recommendations
• Liaise closely with stakeholders to ensure their requirements are understood and met
• Prepare monthly financial packs, analysing, interpreting and reporting on income statements and balance sheet items, as well as DI’s, statutory returns, cash flow analysis and transfer pricing
• Prepare rolling forecasts, three year plans and annual budgets
• Create investment models and update monthly based on interest rate changes
• Analyze and make recommendations around issues that are important with regard to financial reporting and communicate and educate stakeholders
• Provide training and guidance to the business
• Motivate people and co-ordinate people, tasks and resources to achieve stakeholders objectives
