Minimum experience and requirements MUST HAVE

EDUCATION:

• Matric
• 2 - 5 years’ experience in working on fire alarm systems
• Must be able to register with SAQCC Fire at commissioner level
SUPPLY CERTIFICATES FOR:
? In House Training
? Basic fire detection course
? SANS 10139 standards training

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Technician must have basic knowledge on electronics and electricity
o Knowledge of fire alarm systems
o Must be able to identify and locate faults on the alarm system
o Must be trained and have knowledge of Aritech, Ziton and Technoswitch fire panels
o Must be able to work alone without supervision
o Must have knowledge and an understanding of the South African Fire Standards
• Experience as a Fire Fighter and/or Volunteer Fire Fighter
• Principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment used in modern fire suppression and prevention.
• Standard firefighting practices, methods, and procedures.
• Principles and practices of budget preparation.
• Positive verbal and nonverbal communication and interaction skills.
• Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment.
• Principles and practices of working safely.
• Safe driving principles and practices.

Key Performance Areas
Duties

• Manage the functionality of all our fire panel (and related) equipment in our Johannesburg and PTA buildings
• Assist in firefighting activities.
• Operate First Aid equipment
• Assist in fire investigation and evidence collection tools
• Operate fire suppression and other emergency equipment
• Perform standard firefighting, technical rescues, emergency medical aid, hazardous materials, and fire prevention techniques.
• Prepare and maintain clear and concise fire reporting records.
• Write reports.
• Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Operate all hand and power tools safely
• Interpret and enforce department rules and regulations.
• Provide emergency medical aid services based upon certifications.
• Receive and relay fire calls and alarms; operate radio and other communications equipment.
• Operate office equipment including PCs, calculator, copier, phone, fax machine; fire investigation, evidence collection, and photographic tools.
• Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
• He/she will need to know what the fire requirements would be, based on the buildings having been signed off by the fire chief
