RedCat Recruitment is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced FORESTRY (PLANT) MANAGER for a well-established concern, position based in the Pietermaritzburg area.

JOB DESCRIPTION / REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12.
Valid Code 08 driver’s license and own reliable vehicle.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Strong computer skills (MS Office, Email / Internet).
Relevant qualification an added advantage but not essential.
Basic understanding of nursery or forestry would be a strong advantage.
Person should preferably come from a forestry / agricultural / horticultural background, but would also suit someone who is interested in gaining experience in the field.
Oversee the clonal cutting operation.
Able to implement systems and improve on systems.
Visiting existing customers on a regular basis and securing orders.
Attend field days and represent the company.
Complete reports and plans on a weekly basis.
Plan production, and ensure deadlines are met.
Provide feedback to the management team on problems, delays etc. in sales.
Oversee approximately 60 staff.
Manage clonal forestry grow-out section (preparing plants for sale).
Ensure quality is controlled and maintained (ISO 9001).
Phase production according to sales forecast and demand.
Update production program on a regular basis.
Provide reports regarding stock takes and plant availability versus orders.
Must be prepared to work over weekends when required.
