FUMIGATION MANAGER (Pest Control, B2B Service Providers) – Johannesburg

ROLE SUMMARY
Serves as the technical expert & is responsible for developing and implementing the fumigation line of business. Working with respective Fumigation Branches, the Manager ensures that fumigation proposals are compliant, technically sound, and priced appropriately. As the company’s expert in fumigation, ensures appropriate licensing and training for technicians and certifies that the appropriate equipment and product are being transported and utilized in accordance with company’s regulations.

JOB DESCRIPTION
• Work with Fumigation Branches - a supportive/consultative role re: safety, quality & final approval on unique or larger customer opportunities.
• Work with the Marketing Dept - to determine service offerings, market opportunities & niche opportunities. Provide the technical support needed in the development of marketing information & materials.
• Develop & edit proposal models, contracts & documents associated with work performance. (Includes the regulatory approval or compliance of SA)
• Assist with creating pricing models & formulas to ensure proper profitability.
• Establish the protocols of fumigation to minimize risk & to comply with all regulatory agencies. Ensure compliance with all Dept. of Transport requirements for transporting fumigants.
• Develop & audit training programs – qualified personnel to perform fumigation (meets manufacturer & regulatory requirements)
• Monitor & coordinate the scheduling of larger fumigation jobs to make sure the availability of trained personnel & equipment is appropriate.
• Conduct audits at Fumigation Branch level to substantiate proper licensing & registration of applicators and businesses. Periodically audit the completion of fumigation services to ensure compliance with company & regulatory requirements.
• Establish & maintain relationships with fumigant manufacturers and providers to secure supply chain.
• Mandated material reporting & accountability programs.
• Ensure safe storage of fumigants at Fumigation Branches.
• Represent company on the Fumigation Working Group (FWG), incl representation in the maintenance of the International Fumigation guidelines.
• Represent company within SA for fumigation matters such as Legislative initiatives and SAPCA.
• Responsible for revenue growth & gross profitability of the Fumigation Line of Business
• Responsible for fumigation branches Health & Safety awareness & compliance of safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
• Matric + relevant qualification
? Full NCPC qualification
? Fumigation of Commodities Qualification
? BPCA Fumigation qualification
• Computer literate – Excel, PowerPoint
• Must have an unendorsed valid driver’s licence
• Registered Pest Control Operator with P-Number
• Above average Pest Control Product knowledge & Technical Skills.
• Above average presentation skills
• Qualified as a Fumigator-in-charge, with min 4-5 years exp performing & directing fumigations i.e. Methyl Bromide and Phosphine
• Exp in Developing & Delivering Technical Training Programs in small / large group forums
• Good knowledge of ISPM15 regulations – a MUST
• Knowledge of SA’s fumigation regulations
• Sales experience in selling a fumigation

• Demonstrated skill in managing projects
• Strong communication skills (both written & oral) – English & Afrikaans
• Proven leadership & supervisory skills
• Must be able to grasp and communicate technical concepts.
• Ability to present information & respond to questions from managers, supervisors, technicians, customers & general public.
• Ability to calculate figures & amounts i.e. percentages, area, circumference & volume.
• Ability to solve practical problems & deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Ability & willingness to travel overnight, when required

Salary: R19k – 21k basic pm (negotiable with experience) + Company Car, Medical Aid, Provident Fund
