To be considered for appointment into this position, the successful candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:
• Be in possession of Grade 12 or equivalent Qualification
• Be computer literate and able to use MS Office programs
• Having four years experience as Furnace Operator in a similar environment will be advantageous
• In depth understanding of the Section Production Procesess will be an added advantage
• Have good communication skills in English and an additional language
• Have ability to pay attention to detail and be results-orientated
• Have sound decision making skills
• Must be able to work without supervision and as a team member
• Must be safety conscious and have sound decision making skills
• Be declared medically fit to perform the duties required

The position reports to the Foreman Production Shift and the successful candidate will be required to:

• Maintain efficient and safe process of furnace and operation
• Monitor and control furnace parameters and peripheral equipment according to instructed settings and methodologies
• Inform the Production foreman of any conditions and indications of monitoring systems which may cause harm or damage to people and
equipment
• Prepare the furnace for maintenance as per instructions
• Coordinate with other departments when and if required to ensure continuous operation of the furnace
• Report all engineering related matters regarding the equipment to the production foreman
• Maintain equipment according to specification and report any defects
• Test weigh hoppers to ensure correct weights are batched daily and report findings
• Attend regular Production meetings with Production Foreman when required
• Adhere to SHEQ objectives
• Adhere to the provisions of the OHS Act
