Main purpose of the job
To maintain a safe and clean working environment and provide office support and refreshments at specified times.

Location
Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Soweto

Key performance areas
Vacuum assigned offices, corridors and common areas.
Clean the Pharmacy according to infection control standards and protocol.
Empty all waste bins daily.
Clean mirrors, doors and door handles.
Dust and polish office furniture & equipment (telephones, light switches and sockets).
Sweep and mop floors.
Maintain & wash crockery and pack it away neatly.
Safely store all cleaning materials.
Serve refreshments to patients.
Maintain water dispensers.
Refill consumables i.e. coffee/tea bag tins, sugar bowl etc.
Assist with other general office duties as and when required i.e. photocopying, archiving, labelling etc.
Provide switchboard relief as and when required.
Report anything in need of ordering, repair or replacement to management.

Required minimum education and training
Grade 12 preferable

Required minimum work experience
At least 2 years performing similar work

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
Knowledge on the use of equipment and chemicals needed for cleaning.
Professional, organised and able to work quickly.
A strong work ethic and a positive approach to tasks.
Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Punctual and good time keeping.
Able to follow schedules and work to instructions.
Capable of carrying out physical activities.
Maintain effective working relationships with all staff and managers.
