Our client currently has a position for a General Engineering Superintendent who will be focused on the superior operational activity at their coal plant. An individual that is production driven with good management, customer and interpersonal skills.
The primary purpose of the role is to oversee the maintenance operations in the surface plant to ensure optimal availability of machines and equipment and the smooth running of the coal plant.
The successful incumbent will have extensive experience of a coal crushing, screening and washing plant and a minimum of 5 years’ experience at a supervisory level in the engineering field.
Job Description
Direct and manage Maintenance Artisans of all disciplines in a coal crushing, screening and beneficiation plant.
Control and management of spares and equipment.
Planned maintenance orientated and production driven.
Manage Contractors.
Develop, maintain and enforce health and safety standards, codes of practices and safe operating procedures.
Cost control and budgeting.
Interact with Foremen, Logistics Manager and Engineer.
Required to work overtime and be available for call outs should the need arise.

Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Qualified Artisan with a relevant Trade Certificate /National Technical Certificate
Computer literate in the Microsoft Office suite
Extensive experience of a coal crushing, screening and washing plant
Extensive experience of plant and overland conveyors
Valid driver’s license and own transport
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Artisan
Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory level in the engineering field in addition to 5 above
Experience working with multi trade disciplines and a multi-cultural team
Ability to function independently as well as in a team
Ability to plan, organise and prioritize
Ability to communicate in English (written & verbal) and one other official language
