Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate the engineering foreman to ensure production and safety targets are achieved on time and within budget
• Coordinate the planning, scheduling and implementation of budgeted projects within area of responsibility
• Subject to regulation 2.13.12, be responsible for the safe installation and the proper operation, running and maintenance of all machinery; be responsible for the safe erection and proper maintenance of all buildings, structures and tanks
• Ensure all safety appliances, mechanisms and guards are maintained in good condition; the provisions of the regulations relating to machinery are fully complied with; and the work of any apparatus or machine, the use of which may constitute a danger to any person, is stopped
• Conduct audits when required to ensure compliance to the MHSA, Company COP`s and procedures
• Liaise with the plan maintenance planner to ensure the asset register remain up to date and assist the planner in optimizing the maintenance schedules to ensure legal compliance and to ensure above 85% availability of equipment
• Required to work overtime, do standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise

Minimum Requirements:
• Qualified Artisan with a relevant Fitter/Boilermaker/Rigger Trade Certificate /National Technical Certificate
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as General Engineering Supervisor
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as Engineering Foreman in a shaft/services/winders environment.
• PC Literate in Microsoft Office Suite is compulsory while experience on Microsoft Projects will be to your advantage.
• Valid drivers’ license with own transport
• Knowledge of Planned Maintenance systems (please indicate the relevant system on your CV/application)

Other Skills / Competencies
• Sound knowledge of various disciplines in the engineering section
• Ability to plan, organize and prioritize.
• Good management, customer and interpersonal skills, Independent, self-motivated, proactive thinking and ability to do own job planning but must also be able to operate in a team environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (written & verbal)
• Good Knowledge and understanding of the MHSA (Act 29 of 1996)
