General Manager; Business Systems (Head of SHEQ) Business Systems Division

PURPOSE OF JOB:
The General Manager of Business Systems is responsible for integrated “business support management” solutions across all company business units, where strategic and operational decisions will be made with the aim of high quality products, based on sound business processes, for a sustainable and profitable company.

The job will focus primarily on Quality Management Systems, Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems, Operational Risk Management and Environmental Management Systems. It also encompasses operational quality control, product qualification and material testing, fire prevention and conservation management.

Looking for someone who is passionate about engineering and manufacturing.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Knowledge of product development, operations/business management, procurement, budgeting & lean manufacturing
• Planning and prioritization of multiple tasks, organizational and administrative skills
• High ethical standards with effective decision making and good problem solving skills
• Knowledge of quality management systems and standards

• Displays initiative with good levels of entrepreneurial spirit
• Good communicator (verbal/non-verbal) with strong presentation and negotiation skills
• Mature, driven, confident , self-motivated and results orientated
• Knowledge of the Labour act, OHSA and or any other regulatory acts which may affect the company
• Computer Literate and able to operate the Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Responsibilities and essential job function includes but are not limited to the following:
• Provide leadership to the Business Systems department in line with the company vision and objectives
• Ensure complete adherence to ISO standards pertaining to Quality, Safety and Environment
• Monitor and control the quality of goods delivered to customers
• Initiate corrective action processes to address non-conformances occurring in manufacturing
• Evaluate and decide upon key investments in equipment, infrastructure and talent
• Ensure that all qualification procedures are executed correctly and timeously
• Reporting of key performance metrics regarding SHE and Quality
• Manage operational risks which are highlighted by internal and external audits
• Support the development of a healthy internal culture of high performance that retains key employees and encourages their professional development


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
• A degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial etc.). An ISO auditor certification would be an advantage.
• More than 8 years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment with keen focus on quality assurance, SHE and operational risk management.
• At least 5 years’ within a general management role.
