Our client, a specialized business unit within the agricultural sector based in Stellenbosch is looking for a General Manager to join their highly skilled and cutting-edge team.

The role entails an experienced and visionary GM to establish a consultancy division with the aim to efficiently and effectively manage the assessment, delivery and execution of technology and innovation solutions to internal and external clients. Proven managerial experience in building and leading a specialist and/or multi-disciplinary data analysis and innovation team would be beneficiary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Development of a commercially sound business plan
• Strategic and methodical execution of the business plan
• Manage a multi-disciplinary, specialized team (IT, GIS, horticulture, soil Science,entomology, engineering, finance and analytics)
• Regular reporting and planning sessions
• Investigate new technologies
• Interact with international subject matter specialists; identify and prioritise potential partners, clients, technologies
• Provide leadership to prioritise and execute research and development
• Evaluate strategic clients, marketing and roll out of business solutions to clients
• Overall management of business unit: budgeting, procurement and financial control, staff welfare, productivity, succession, new
appointments etc
• Motivation and planning for trialling and implementation of new and proven technology and systems
• People facing and presentation skills
• Conflict resolution, negotiation, management and leadership skills
• Outstanding communication skills – written and verbal – are essential as individual will be required to work closely with key stakeholders to
develop platforms for reporting, KPI’s and analytics

REQUIREMENTS:

• Relevant tertiary qualification/degree in an associated or business-related field or an equivalent combination of formal training and 10 years’
experience in a management position
• Advanced business and technical skills
• Experience and understanding of the agricultural industry will be a bonus
• Advanced knowledge of data modelling
• Agile software development
• Data security and compliance
• Risk management
• Logistics and operations
• Metadata management
• Excellent understanding of various analytical processes including measurement and governance
