Kendrick Recruitment has an exciting position available for a General Manager of a Luxury 5* lodge in Hluhluwe area.The General Manager needs to manage the Lodge in such a manner that Guest satisfaction and budgeted profit margins are achieved and that a good company image is projected, thus ensuring continued growth.Primary Responsibilities:Lodge OperationsTo ensure the efficient, effective and professional management of all departments.To liaise with guests and maintain effective communication with them, including personalised correspondence.To ensure that personalised guest experiences that are designed and implemented consistently and provided to the respective site inspection guests, when required.To ensure that the daily guest experience is designed and implemented.To host meal venues and ensure the smooth operation of functions.To be readily available at all times to deal with problems and complaints.To ensure effective check in procedures and efficient speedy check-out facilities.To ensure that complaints, comments or problems are actioned without delay and that effective follow-up action takes place to avoid a recurrence.To ensure that guest comments and feedback stats are recorded accurately and departmental incentives are tracked and paid out when required.To attend to and host site inspection guests, maintaining a high profile with current and prospective clients.To ensure all departments co-operate smoothly and seamlessly with each other, ensuring an efficient professional operation.To ensure that lodge service standards, hardware and guest experience levels are met and maintained consistently, including maintenance programs as and when required.Daily lodge communications to ensure that HODs are giving equal attention to all areas.To chair operational meetings in conjunction with Lodge manager.Daily liaison with the field team.To ensure that all staff is correctly and smartly dressed at all times.To ensure that all public areas are in good working order, clean and tidy at all times, including Curio Shop and Front of House.To reduce accidents and ensure that all safety hazards are addressed and potential problems communicated to the Ops Manager.To circulate regularly throughout all public areas, maintaining a high profile with guests and staff.To ensure that you and the team be familiar with all local emergency services and procedures.To hold the lodge manager responsible for the implementation and upkeep of the lodges children’s programme, Spa programmes and guiding programmes.To assist the safari shop in product selection, product presentation, pricing and stock controlTo communicate with other departments and ensure that effective stock control is taking place including regular stock takesTo check the cashbook and the monthly reports that they tie back to the sales in the cashbook.To ensure that each department sends in the monthly review and report for operations.Staff ManagementTo provide effective leadership through professional man-management and encouragement of all subordinates, including mediation.To carry out regular, meaningful performance appraisals conducted in such a manner that effective, open, two-way communication is maintained. To follow up and ensure that the agreed action and developmental plans identified at these appraisals are being effected.To ensure that all HODs are totally conversant with all company policies and procedures, basic conditions of employment and labour regulations as well as disciplinary codes of the company.
