General Manager: Operations – Cape Town
Salary: Market Related + Incentives

Role: Participate, execute and manage the operations strategy by driving business processes to achieve maximum quality, productivity and efficiency within the logistics; supply chain and warehousing business units.

Skills & Experience
? Qualifications Minimum: Matric; Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain/Industrial Engineering
? 10 - 12 years Operations experience in the Logistics Industry with 3 - 5 years at a Senior Management Level
? Experience within a similar background and working environment will be beneficial.
? Proven track record of problem solving abilities
? Drivers License and own Vehicle

? Execute and Manage Operations
? Conduct research and group discussions to determine:
? Proposed legislation/regulations
? Amendments to current legislation/regulations
? Trends in the logistics Industry
? Global best practices ITO operational efficiencies
? New service offerings
? How to be at the forefront of service offerings
? How to gain a competitive edge
? Who are the right people to execute certain strategies

Marketing & Branding
? New business development
? Market development
? Review existing products
? Future technology strategy
? Determine the feasibility of introducing new services
? Innovative Service offerings
? Participate in the operations strategy formulation
? Communicate the strategy to the operations division
? Obtain the associated resources and secure to enable implementation of the strategy
? Implement the strategy in accordance with policies, procedures and legal requirements
? Consult the operations strategy to determine the outputs required from the respective operations departments

Identify and secure the appropriate resources for implementation of departmental plans:
? Create and maintain a climate conducive to performance to ensure that the departments deliver against objectives.
? Initiate pro-active and corrective actions as required to ensure optimal performance
? Manage operations in accordance with proposed outputs and allocated time frames
? Strong S.O.P management and implementing of new processes is required.

Strategic Human Resource Management
? Manage managers in the achievement of planned divisional objectives and targets by ensuring that the company has a high performance culture
? Clarify manager’s roles and responsibilities, set performance objectives, manage and conduct performance reviews in accordance with policies and procedures and take corrective action where necessary
? Implement a management succession plan
? Build a pro-active environment where the managers can take responsibility for results
? Set and achieve Employment Equity targets
? Identify critical skills essential for sustainability of service delivery and the development of succession plans

Manage Divisional Budget
? Prepare and manage the operational and capital budgets
? Approve budgetary expenditures within authorisation limits or delegations
? Review and report on financial performance
? Ensure the reduction of costs of all resources
