General Manager – Procurement Operations (Centurion)

This is the lead position in Procurement Operations run by the company for a large JSE-listed telecommunications client in South Africa. The incumbent is expected to have minimum 12 -15 years of relevant industry experience, specifically in the areas such as Supply chain management / Procurement and Sourcing / Process Management. This is a direct client-facing role and the incumbent will be responsible for the strategy and performance of Procurement Operations, as well as leading the Procurement Operations team.

Key Responsibilities: Procurement Operations

• Manage the procure-to-pay operations for a key new account in SAP environment.
• Devise overall strategy for the procure-to-pay operations environment
• Establish effective operations controls to achieve the desired performance levels
• Interact/liaise and maintain client relationships at a Senior/Executive/CxO level
• Review of existing processes to check the process health and devise improvement plans
• Building a process improvement framework through good business analysis and process optimization techniques.
• Drive operational excellence and business transformation
• Managing key critical Projects for the client with effective controls and functional knowledge.
• Project Management and Program management
• Building a Procurement Center of Excellence (CoE) to help transform Procurement service offerings, and also support broader transformation of the value chain
• Build customer satisfaction through effective Performance and stake holder management
• Build Synergy with key stake holders to enhance the performance and speed of the process
• Engaging internally within the company for various inputs and reporting related to client engagement
• Managing the team size for the best possible optimization and motivation.
• Planning the Talent Management program for the team
• Improvement in the performance and KRA’s as per client expectations and agreed SLA’s.
• Building the culture towards innovation and creativity within the team
• Coach, train and mentor direct reports and provide career development opportunities through training

Professional Experience, Knowledge & Education:

Essential:
• Strong understanding of the Procure to pay process in captive / client environment.
• Very good exposure to ERP implementation / environment as a user; specially SAP and Ariba
• Expertise to include, amongst others, Procure-to-pay, Source-to-pay, Master Data Management, Reporting, Analytics, Market Intelligence.
• Management of outsourced procurement services
• Ability to lead teams in the procurement space
• Strong leader of people, continuously coaching and developing the bench
• Excellent client relationship skills
• A track record of strong operational delivery managing a large team in Sourcing and Procurement space
• Proven track record of driving change in people and processes, with strong project management, implementation and process improvement skills
• Ability to deal with high levels of ambiguity
• Data driven action orientation, with strong reporting, data analysis, presentation skills, and organizational abilities
• Knowledge of project and program management desirable
• Must have worked in a client facing environment for at least 5 years.
• Negotiation and communication skills are mandatory
• Performance management skills

Desirable:

• ERP implementation experience.
• Process improvement experience / Certification
• Good knowledge of technology platforms and systems
• Consensus building skills

Education:

• Relevant post graduate degree in Business Management or Commerce/ Sciences / Engineering
