Our client in the Boksburg area seeks a dynamic and experienced General Manager – Sales to join the
organization.

Job Purpose:

The General Manager Sales is responsible for profitability and customer retention across all selling entities within the Group both domestic and foreign, including but not limited to:

Wholesale Sales
Mining Sales
Collision Avoidance Systems
Field Services
Workshop
TMT
Export Sales
Branch Sales (Foreign and Domestic)
Sales via Authorised Distributors

Qualifications:
• A Business Degree or relevant tertiary qualification in Sales and Marketing
• An auto-electrical qualification or working experience would be highly advantageous
Related Experience:
• The successful candidate will have an impressive and consistent track record at a senior level in sales management, preferably within the automotive/mining sectors of no less than 10 years.
• Previous experience in managing and motivating multiple departments and a large national sales team (>50 staff) is non- negotiable for this role.
• In addition, you will need to be able to demonstrate:
A full understanding of the auto-electrical trade and related parts as well as a working knowledge of the mining industry. You must have the ability to successfully incorporate these into the sales offering.
• A proven ability to lead a sales team to high levels of performance.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Translating the Company’s business strategy into sales targets and budgets by sales entity and ensuring that all sales teams are motivated to achieve.
• Pivotal in achieving National Sales Revenues and Targets as well as Branch Sales Revenues and Targets by developing sales strategies within key customers as well as new customer segments.
• Manages and is accountable for the sales and training functions of Mining Sales, Wholesale Sales, Field Service, Workshop, TMT, Export, SAFEmine, all branches both domestic and foreign as well as Authorised Distributors.
• Develops and executes business plans in conjunction with the management of all the above-mentioned sales entities.
• Ensures effective sales coverage within all territories.
• Hiring and monitoring the performance of sales managers through KPI’s which you will set, holding weekly sales meetings and conducting sales training.
• Maintains group sales staff job results by counselling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results.
• Develops and maintains strong relationships with key customers, suppliers and employess.
• Maintains contact with key markets by visiting and investigating the operations and local conditions
• Identifies new Markets for development.
• Develops and trains key distributors and suppliers.
• Maintains sales volumes, product mix and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators and competitors.
• Establishes and adjusts selling prices by monitoring costs, competition and supply and demand.
• Completes group sales operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.
• Manages and draws up contracts and tenders.
• Assist sales staff when pricing on, and finalizing strategic quotations.
• Conducts monthly branch visits and customer visits within the area.
• Conducts routine customer visits with respective account managers.
• In conjunction with Customer Services, attend to customer complaints, ensuring that a high level of customer satisfaction is obtained.
• Meeting monthly with each selling entity to review sales pipeline, forecasts and profits.
• Working directly with the Marketing Manager on making recommendations on both short and long-range advertising plans, sales promotions, sales tools and marketing collateral.
• Provides accurate and relevant reports, making effective use of sales systems and ensures effective communication with sales team and other relevant players.
• Develops and maintains a network of Authorised Distributors in territories not covered by the branches.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
• Maintain the profitability of your departments while controlling expenses and maintaining customer satisfaction.
• Attends and participates in weekly Exco meetings as and when requested.

NB: This position requires a substantial amount of domestic and foreign travel.

Salary: R50 000 – R65 000 CTC per month
