An experienced General Manager is needed for a Certified Top Employer (2015) for a luxurious boutique Hotel & Spa flanked by the majestic Simonsberg mountains in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley, situated on a wine estate with sweeping views of the mountains, lake shore or vineyardsEducational Requirements:Hotel School Qualification.OR Sound experience of the full hotel operationMajor Skills Required:Strong business sense. Guest Focused. Target driven & resilient.Self-motivated.Strong managerial, communication & negotiation skills.Strong Banqueting FocusedReporting to:Operations DirectorResponsibilitiesEnsure Growth in Turnover & Positive Cash flowImplement adequate controls within the framework and requirements of our policies and procedures, ISO 9002Implement adequate controls in an attempt to elevate the hotel to the next star ratingEnsure that turnover growth exceeds inflationPartake in marketing communication and initiatives and involve marketing in the areas relatedEnsure positive balances of your hotel bank accountsDevelop a unit specific project plan on refurbishments, operational equipment replacement programs and general improvements.Ensure that all projects have a proper plan with costing, artist impression / drawing and timelines attachedEnsure all financial regulations and standards are adhered to, including Auditors Reports and internal policies and proceduresSource new and/or direct suppliersPromote personal support of employees by being fully involved and visible in operations. Ensure senior management is visible and on the floors at all busy timesEnsure that hotel is optimally staffed at all times as per the agreed organogramConduct performance appraisals as prescribedDisciplinary Procedures & Industrial RelationsAdhere to the company’s disciplinary and grievance procedure according to the company Code of Conduct and ensure documentationEnsure all Staff are utilized in the best mannerStaff rosters must be clearly visible and controlled and issued on a weekly basis.Employee Relationship ManagementEnsure that all staff attend training courses as per the head office training scheduleProvide feedback on Worker’s Council meetings every month – minuted for feedback to IR OfficerEnsure that all relevant personnel records e.g. leave applications, contracts, disciplinary documentation and payroll documentation are forwarded to the HR Administrator and Payroll Administrator at Head Office on a daily/weekly basisManage the admin for Payroll Salary and BenefitsSalary – whatever it may be for that unitProfit ShareProduction BonusFree Funeral CoverFree Business & Life CoachingStaff lunchesCell phone allowanceCareer Growth ProspectsContinuous training and developmentIf you don’t hear form us in 14 days, please consider your application unsuccessful
