Position: General Manager
Reporting to: CEO
Based in: Durban
Minimum requirements:
-Completed Diploma Mechanical Engineering
-Sound Technical knowledge of the pump industry
-Computer literate
-Leadership skills
-Exposure to financial aspects of managing a business
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS OUTPUTS
Planning
Creates annual operating plans that support strategic direction set by the board and link with annual operating budgets; submits annual plans to the board for approval.
Collaborates with the board to define and articulate the organisation’s vision and to develop strategies for achieving that vision.
Develops and monitors strategies for ensuring the long-term financial viability of the organisation.
Develops future leadership within the organisation.

Management
Promotes a culture that reflects the organisation’s values, encourages good performance, and rewards productivity.
Hires, manages, and fires the human resources of the organisation according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations.
Oversees the operations of organisation and manages its compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Creates and maintains procedures for implementing plans approved by the board of directors.
Ensures that staff and board have sufficient and up-to-date information.
Evaluates the organisation’s and the staff’s performance on a regular basis.

Financial management
Oversees staff in developing annual budgets that support operating plans and submits budgets for board approval.
Manages the organisation's resources within budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations.
Ensures that staff practices all appropriate accounting procedures in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Provides prompt, thorough, and accurate information to keep the board appropriately informed of the organisation’s financial position.
Marketing and PR:
Maintain effective networks with all principal clients and stakeholders.
Oversee content, production and distribution of all marketing and publicity materials (posters, program, flyers, mail outs, brochures etc.).
Seek opportunities to expand and promote the role of the organisation.
Ensure the organisation is presented in an appropriate and professional manner to its stakeholders.
Systematic Effectiveness
Overseas production, delivery, and quality of services.
Stays abreast of current trends related to the organisation’s products and services and anticipates future trends likely to have an impact on its work.

Leading and managing the organisation:
Ensure that a long term strategy is in place which can guide the organisation in achieving objectives.
Enable the organisation to articulate its corporate philosophy and value base; ensure that these are consistently applied across the organisation.
Be responsible to the Board of Directors for the overall financial welfare of the organisation; ensure that expenditure is controlled in line with budgets as approved by the Board.
Ensure the organisation discharges its constitutional and legal obligations.
Provide leadership to the senior management team, and keep under review and appraise the work of staff reporting directly to the chief executive officer.
Ensure that the organisation has the resources (human, material and financial) to operate as effectively as possible.
Establish and maintain an HR system which ensures leadership and maximises the potential of staff and is in keeping with the mission and values of the organisation.
