Our client in Plastics Industry based in Durban is looking for a Graphic Designer to join their team.

Key responsibilities will include:

Concept/line art sketches designed in 2D graphics programme (such as Adobe Illustrator)
3D design modelling of given briefs for bottles, closures, tubs, lids and other products
2D technical drawings of products designed
Reverse engineering existing bottles/closures for a new mould to be made
Liaising and meeting with clients to understand their requirements
R & D in new development and innovation with the team
Researching new ideas and designing a presentation for potential customers
Designing in unison with the mould designers, to ensure ease of manufacture, and ensure that correct design is followed
Growing the design department to offer the client a one-stop-shop from concept to market
Preparing and submitting quotations to the client
Designing to help make a product appealing to potential buyers through its packaging.
Selecting typefaces, colours, and illustrations for the packaging and using digital illustration and layout computer software to draft and create designs.
Researching and analysing industry trends and keeps abreast of emerging technologies and creative applications.

Qualifications and Experience:

A tertiary qualification in Graphic Design is required
Candidates should demonstrate their creativity and originality through a professional portfolio that features their best designs.
At least 5 years’ experience in a related manufacturing industry
Experienced in specialized graphic design software to prepare designs.
Ability to create designs artistically interesting and appealing to clients and consumers.
Ability to communicate with clients, customers, and other designers to ensure that their designs accurately reflect the desired message and effectively express information.
Analytical skills and Creativity, i.e. ability to think of new approaches to communicating ideas to consumers.
Time-management skills and ability to work on multiple projects at the same time, each with a different deadline.
