Graphic Designer Course or Qualifications
Relevant Graphic Design Software
Own Transport
Valid Drivers
SA Citizenship


Duties

Graphic Designer responsibilities:

1. Graphic design and artwork management
2. Preparing positives
3. Generating fact files
4. Record keeping
5. Maintaining of film processor machine

Graphic design and artwork management:
Clients may request that Glass Design design artwork for the client. The Marketing and NPD manager will then brief the Graphic Designer on it. The Graphic Designer will design artwork in accordance with the brief and will present the artwork to the Marketing department for visual assessment. Artwork is also presented to the head of production in order to incorporate decorating parameters. Artwork will then be finalised and the Marketing department will present it to the client for their comment and approval. The client may request additional changes and the Graphic Designer will update the artwork accordingly.

Adapting client artwork:

In some instances, clients will choose to make use of their own Graphic Designers or advertising agencies. The Graphic Designer will then adapt the artwork in accordance with the decorating parameters and glass bottle specs. Again artwork will be developed and prepared with the input of the head of production.

1.3. Artwork System Rules:
The following must be adhered to, before artwork is sent to NPD and QA Manager

- Graphic Designer must systematically peruse designed/adapted artwork including the following:
- Perform Spell Check
- Check artwork colours/Pantone references
- Generate all barcodes
- Check document size (actual and fit to page)
- Artwork must be converted to paths
- Check dates
- Product Name
- Save artwork in relevant client/project folder
- Artwork file name must include date
