Graphics Designer – Johannesburg

We are looking for a young, energetic, creative and dynamic individual to join our team.
As a graphic designer you will need to communicate, listen and understand needs before making design decisions daily.
You will work on a variety of projects and activities, such as websites, advertising, magazines, posters, product packaging, displays, corporate communications and corporate identity, logo designs and redesigns, marketing strategies and any pre-press requirements, weekly specials, promotions, new products launches, create, maintain and update the product catalogue, pull up banners, posters, package designs, design accordingly for road shows and exhibitions, design pamphlets, brochures, competition material. i.e. anything else that gives our organizations a visual ‘brand’.
You will work to a brief agreed with your marketing manager (Chriselda Pillay) and you will develop options for creative ideas and concepts. The appropriate media and style has to be chosen to meet the organization’s objectives.
Your Job demands creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry software and a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines. Planning and organisation is essential and has to be communicated to your manager daily.
Responsibilities
You will need to manage more than one design brief/project at a time and typical activities include:
• meeting managers and or other staff to discuss the business objectives and requirements of the job.
• estimating the time required to complete the work and providing quotes.
• developing design briefs that suit the organisation’s purpose.
• thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts and developing interactive design.
• using innovation to reimagine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time.
• Create and or take images that identify a product, service or convey a message specific to an organisation.
• presenting finalised ideas and concepts to managers.
• working with a range of media, including computer-aided design and keeping up to date with emerging technologies.
• proofreading to produce accurate and high-quality work.
• demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches and working on layouts ready for print.
• working as part of a close team with Marketing managers, printers, copywriters, photographers, stylists, illustrators, other designers, web developers and marketing specialists.
Skills
• Technical, pre-press, drawing skills, and computer software you will need to know:
• Marketing/ Graphic Design Qualification (non-negotiable)
• Corel Draw (Not negotiable).
• Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Research and conceptualization skills.
• Typography, imagery, colour, and layout.
• Up-to-date trends in the local creative industry.
• Drawing and sketching skills.
General Skills

• Excellent communication skills in order to interpret and negotiate briefs.
