GROUP EXECUTIVE SHEQ – East Rand
Steel manufacturing environment

SALARY: The package is TCC based & highly negotiable based on experience and competence.

JOB SPECIFICATION
• To plan, manage, assess and control the SHEQ activities of the Group and to provide direction and leadership to business units and branches to ensure that the relevant standards and systems are implemented in relation to Group and ISO standards
• Develop and enhance SHEQ policy, where necessary
• Establish generally accepted SHEQ standards
• Develop an annual business plan for the SHEQ department
• Manage regional SHEQ officers and advise and enforce standards and policy compliance
• Work with Group Risk Specialist to ensure adherence to sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives
• Implement appropriately ISO 14001 / ISO 18001 / ISO 9001 throughout group structures and maintain, where already implemented
• Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements via legal compliance auditing
• Implement appropriate monitoring criteria to measure SHEQ performance at branch level
• Report on SHEQ performance at branch level, applying generally accepted criteria
• Develop and implement SHEQ training programs for the group, in conjunction with the Training Department
• Develop appropriate sustainability reports
• Review SHEQ standards at branch level and provide feedback to management
• Provide input on current SHEQ trends and development, both locally and internationally

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
• Matric + relevant tertiary qualification
• Considerable proven experience (+8 years) in the SHEQ quality environment
• Min 3 years’ experience at Senior Management level
• Demonstrate ability in people management, communication, presentation and organisational skills
• A strong business / manufacturing process orientation and understanding
• Strong leadership skills
• Highly analytic
• Solid experience in conducting Safety, Health and Environment Implementations and Audits
• Management reporting skills
• Computer and technology literacy
• Strong communication skills across all audience levels in English

This position reports to the CFO
