The Occupational Therapist is required to facilitate a balanced therapeutic activity programme with appropriate residents within the health care facility and participate in comprehensive care planning and provision that enables optimal functioning and wellbeing.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES:
Honours Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Must be registered with the (HPCSA) as an Occupational Therapist
Experience:
• Mental Health and group therapy experience
• Geriatric healthcare experience
• Primary health care, hospital or rehabilitation setting experience would be beneficial.
Knowledge: Evidence-based practice and theory relevant to setting such as active ageing, validation therapy techniques, multisensory stimulation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessment of residents (individually) in order to plan for integration in to a therapeutic activity programme and implementation of treatment modalities that will enable optimal functioning and well-being.
2. Design and implement group and/or individual therapeutic activity programmes with relevant and appropriate residents within the health care facility.
3. Monitor progress or decline in functioning and report, complete all required administrative duties.
4. Equipment and stock management: use judiciously and store appropriately.
5. Involvement in co-ordination and planning of special events and excursions for healthcare residents
START DAT~ ASAP from 17.06.2015
WORKING HOURS: Your normal working hours are Monday to Friday 08hOO to 13hOO with no meal break. Should the need arise due to operational requirements, management reserves the right to increase your working hours to the maximum which may include weekday evenings and/or Saturday from 08hOO - 13hOO.
SALARY: ( including benefits l: R12K - R13K gross plus company contributions to provident fund (5%) and medical aid (R597.50).
