Job Description:
Our client is a well-established, listed company with extensive interests in the South African mining industry, is looking for a special individual to join them as an Analyst and contribute to the essential Growth and Strategic Development function.

You’ll be the custodian of the business’ strategy and originate, assess and develop new business opportunities. In so doing you will support the development and implementation of these strategic plans and new business opportunities by carrying out, and reporting on, high quality financial and strategic analysis.

Qualifications required: relevant B. Sc, B. Eng, B.Comm and/or CA (SA).

Experience essential: minimum two years in Corporate Finance/ M&A/ Investments gained within a mining company, bank, consultancy (strategy or mining) or advisory organisation.

Applicants must quite clearly be highly numerate and enjoy number crunching, research, valuations and building of financial models.

Ideally, you will have completed a bank graduate program (rotating between departments like Corporate Finance, Equity Research etc.), and/or have worked as an equity research analyst associate.

Key responsibilities:

Building financial models to inform and support strategic decision-making, and to quantify potential investment opportunities
Developing business cases to support investment decisions and strategic decision-making.
Interacting with internal and external parties to gather relevant information.
Writing reports and preparing presentations for key stakeholders.
Staying abreast of financial and operational issues impacting the company.
Remaining informed and knowledgeable on the industry
