Guest House Manager needed – Sandton

Our client in Sandton is in need of a manager for her Guest House.
You will be given a studio apartment to live in rent-free for the duration of your work there, so preferably someone who is not tied down by a current rental contract for a house, and is free to stay in the studio apartment.

SALARY: R6,000 – R8,000 pm (Free accommodation)

Requirements:
• Matric
• Subjects at school that would help: Hotel/Travel & Tourism
• Female Preferred
• Age Group: 23-25 years old
• Responsible

Duties
• Regularly ensuring that the Guest House meets its operational goals.
• Manage the Catering staff holding regular individual meetings
• Ensure all regulations are met in relation to food hygiene compliance and procedures.
• Ensure all food is stored correctly, adequate checks are carried out, all necessary remedial actions are undertaken and all unused food is safely disposed of.
• Ensure all required food and catering equipment are ordered within given budget, maintaining adequate stock levels at all times and avoiding waste.
• Provide supervision of food preparation and delivery as required.
• Receive and check incoming kitchen and cleaning goods, passing on invoices to the Accounts Manager for payment.

Housekeeping
• Supervise housekeeping to ensure high standards of cleanliness and customer service are maintained
• Monitor levels of sundry household items including cleaning supplies and be responsible for stock ordering within agreed budgets.

Maintenance
• Supervise contractors should there be any work or painting done on site, ensuring that all necessary paperwork is sought in advance and that the work completed is recorded appropriately.
• Monitor day to day maintenance of all aspects of the site, providing updates to the Owner if any work needs to be done.

Office Administration
• Maintain records of relationships with all contractors and suppliers.
• Monitor spending against budget in all operational areas and make recommendations relating to supply of goods and services to reduce costs such as food for example.
• Assist the Owner/Accounts Manager to prepare advertising material to externally promote the Guest House.

Front Desk duties
• Staff the front desk and welcome guests to Guest House when required.
• Respond to guests and hirer enquiries received by phone, fax, email or in person.
• Ensure that the appropriate rooms are set up for conference room bookings, or pre-arranged visits to stay at the Guest House.
