JOB PURPOSE:
To respond to incidents as dispatched by the TMC within a required time and to remove any heavy vehicles from where it causes danger or obstruction to a ‘safer’ place on the side of the freeway

Education/Qualifications and Experience:
? Literate
? Fluent in English
? Code EC License
? PDP (Professional Driving Permit)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
? Attending to all heavy vehicles present on affected freeways covered within the contract, which:
? Are stationary and/or have been involved in traffic accidents
? Require removal from said freeways as instructed in terms of Regulation 320 by any Traffic Law-enforcement Officer or SAPS Officer.
? Communication with the regional TMC on the status of incidents and accidents attended to. No incidents or accidents will be attended to without any scene safety present on the scene provided by either IRU, MRU, SAPS or any Metro Police or Provincial Traffic officers. The services are responsible for securing and safe-guarding the incident scene before L-TRUs and/or H-TRUs are allowed to initiate towing/recovery proce-dures.
? Upon detection of incidents involving light vehicles which are outside the scope of H-TRU recovery opera-tions, notify TMC to dispatch L-TRUs as necessary.
? Ensuring that their assigned recovery vehicle and all equipment on board are in optimum working condition. This function must be undertaken with every shift change.
? Radio communication to TMC – enabled and operational.
? NAVMAN dispatch system – enabled and operational.
? CARPA On-board video surveillance system – enabled and operational.
? TOOLS/FORKS – complete set and in working condition
? Checking and maintenance of the stipulated working equipment inventory, for which all on-board equip-ment as well as the vehicle condition must be inspected with every shift change.
? Correct usage and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Examples include protective clothes, shoes, gloves, reflective jackets, etc.

These duties may be reviewed, added to, or taken away, based on legal or business requirements to ensure overall efficiency of TETI business and operational requirements. Any deviation from the above may result in the necessary performance management steps to be taken against the individual
