The Peech Hotel, recently voted the best boutique hotel in Africa, seeks an outstanding head chef to run the hotel's kitchen. You will currently be a young chef with 3-5 years experience in restaurants and with, ideally, with a culinary school degree or exceptional references. The position would suit a sous chef ready to move into his or her own kitchen.You will create and cost menus, working with the produce in the hotel’s kitchen garden and train your sous chefs to produce food to your standard. You will also work on stock control and process orders.Your will be able to demonstrate that you are a "player-coach – playing from the field with the team.You will be fluent in oral & written English and have a good level of IT literacy (fully proficient in Microsoft Office & on internet applications (Gmail, Dropbox, Websites) and have your own transport.Your hours will be doing shifts (06h00-15h00 and 14h30-Close) and working over Sundays and Public Holidays. As the hotel is open 365 days a year you will be expected to work over some of the traditional holiday periods (Xmas, New Year & Easter).Background: James Peech started the hotel in 2004. We began with just six rooms but have grown to sixteen rooms, a bistro restaurant, a boardroom and a reputation we are proud of. We have retained many staff members who started as the hotel opened as well as had many others join us along the way.The hotel is also proud to have been certified by Fair Trade In Tourism. One of the main categories they assess is business ethics and workplace culture and we’re delighted to have passed both with flying colours.
